Bread upma

The best way to use up left over bread, is by making Bread upma. This is an interesting and colorful snack, with lot of groundnuts into it. Addition of the nuts and daals bring forth a special flavour .




















Ingredients:
6 slices of bread
2 chopped medium size onions
2 tbsp groundnuts
1 green chilly slit
 coriander leaves
2-3 tbspn tomato ketchup
1/2 cup sev (optional)



For tempering: 
3tbsp oil
1 tspn mustard seeds
1 tbspn channa dal n urad dal
2 tbsp groundnuts


Method:
  • Chop the bread slices with a knife. 
  • take oil in a pan . Lets prepare for the tempering. Once oil is hot enough go on adding mustard, channa-urad daal, groundnut, wait till they crackle. Then add onions n green chilly.When onions become translucent, add tomato ketchup, and mix nicely. Add salt n sugar to taste, also 1/4 cup of water. let the mixture come to a boil
  • Then transfer all the bread pieces into the mixture, mix properly n close a lid for 3-4 mins.  Turn off the gas 
  • Finally garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and sev just before having it if required. 


Preparation time: 30-35 mins
